LaLiga and Liga F to Honor Jesús de Miguel with Special Tribute
The Royal Spanish Football Federation, LaLiga, and Liga F have announced a heartfelt tribute to Jesús de Miguel, the CD Tenerife player who tragically passed away. This tribute will take place during the upcoming round of matches scheduled from November 6 to 9. The organizations, along with clubs and players, have united to honor de Miguel under the poignant motto, "Forever in our hearts."
As part of the tribute, starting players from both teams will enter the pitch together, wearing a special shirt emblazoned with the number 9 and the motto. They will form a semicircle with match officials at the spot where the unfortunate incident occurred, laying a floral tribute in memory of de Miguel. Following this, a minute's silence will be observed, during which stadium screens will display an image of the late player, culminating in applause from both players and fans.
The tribute will extend into the matches themselves. At the first stoppage after the ninth minute, reflecting de Miguel's shirt number, the referee will pause the game. During this break, a video tribute to the player will be shown on stadium screens, allowing players and fans to applaud in recognition of his contributions to the sport. This moment of remembrance will be observed across all nationwide competitions organized by the RFEF and Liga F during the specified dates, ensuring that the tribute resonates throughout Spanish football.
That's the Call
In addition to the match tributes, CD Tenerife will hold a solemn ceremony on November 7 at 6:00 p.m. Canary Islands time (7:00 p.m. mainland Spain) at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López. This event will be open to all fans and will be broadcast live on the LALIGA HYPERMOTION channel and LALIGA's official YouTube channel, as well as on the RFEF's channels.
This collective act of remembrance not only honors Jesús de Miguel's legacy but also highlights the solidarity within the football community during times of grief. It serves as a reminder of the impact players have on their clubs and fans, transcending the game itself. As Spanish football comes together to pay its respects, it reinforces the notion that the sport is about more than just competition; it is about community, respect, and shared humanity.
